Okay, here we go! Ask yourself, do you spend enough time with your lover?
This is PART THREE of BALANCE IS BALONEY (BULLSHIT, B.S., CRAZY ETC.)
PART ONE was all about just beginning to schedule a WEEKLY date! Shifting your mindset! Forgetting the concept of BALANCE, so you can feel successful instead of trying to obtain something elusive!
PART TWO was thinking about your life in cycles. Honoring those cycles and planning around them! FREEDOM MANAGEMENT!
Here is one simple tool for keeping yourself organized all areas of your life!
It is called the “6 most important things list”.
That’s easy, right?
Here is the story, and then I will give you examples! I don’t want you to continue living in overwhelm! Overwhelm is the death of romance, write that one down!
Charles Schwab, president of Bethlehem Steel, wanted some assistance getting more out of his people! (Bethlehem Steel was a large company in Baltimore, Maryland—small world, I grew up right outside of Baltimore!)
Schwab found out about a man named Ivy Lee. Lee was an expert in time management (or FREEDOM MANAGEMENT).
Lee was not only an expert in efficiency, he was an expert in sales. He made a proposal Schwab could only say YES to!
Mr. Lee asked for 15 minutes of each of the key executives time, and promised to increase heir efficiency.
Well Schwab wanted to know how much the investment would be and Lee told him this:
‘NOTHING UNLESS IT WORKS. IN 90 DAYS YOU CAN SEND ME A CHECK FOR THE VAULE RECEIVED’ Gutsy move!
Of course Schwab took the offer!
Schwab set up meetings with all of his executives. Lee met with each one for 15 minutes. All he said was, “For the next 90 days, you must promise to make a list of the 6 most important things you need to do for the next day. Number them according to their importance. Whatever doesn’t get done, goes to the top of the list the very next day. Complete the list before you leave for the day.”
The executives thought this too simple to work, but agreed.
After the 90 days, Schwab sent Ivy Lee a check for $35, 000.
Sounds amazing doesn’t it! Yeah, considering this story is more than a century old! AND when the men working at the factor where only paid TWO BUCKS A DAY!!
So what’s the point?
I want to encourage you to be more simplistic with your day. Plan your day. Stop over thinking. Stop saying yes to unimportant things! You really need to ask yourself, do you spend enough time with your lover?
Do you spend enough time with your kids?
Do you spend enough time loving yourself?
How can YOU implement this?
Okay, perhaps you are a realtor-
What are you top 6 things you would like to do, today? YES, I KNOW WE ALL HAVE LISTS A MILE LONG, put the MASTER list on your desk, but daily do your 6 most important, got it?
Maybe this looks like:
1. Call leads
2. Follow ups with Sunday’s open house visitors
3. Write new copy for new listings
What if you are a mom?
1. Wake up 10 minutes early and make out with my husband for 10 minutes, uninterrupted
2. Pack Johnnie’s lunch and take him to school
3. work out
When you have all the “stuff” off your brain, you can focus on the really important things like, loving your spouse, hangin’ with your kids, working out, being kind to yourself and all the really important things that make life worth living!
To your AMAZING RELATIONSHIPS,
